Clair is a good mother, a faithful wife a thoughtful neighbour. On the surface her life is almost perfect. But Clair hides a secret about her past and as she watches her children play, the implications of that secret come more and more to haunt her life.
When a new family with a young wilful daughter, moves in behind their home, Clair fears for the effect this will have on her own children. She knows that the rotting fences surrounding their home are insufficient to contain her children who are like quicksilver spreading themselves into dark corners and potentially dangerous situations.
A tragic incident compounds Clair's anxiety and as she teeters on the edge of madness she is forced to make a decision as to how far she is willing go in order to protect her children.
